Students in the 7th grade loved painting Egyptian Scarabs and Pharaoh Masks in our Ancient Egyptian Art Unit. As soon as you say "gold paint" they get all excited, followed by gems for embellishments makes it so much fun! Tempera paint on brown construction paper was the medium used.
Egyptian Cartouche's were made by learning to draw their name in Hieroglyphs. It was so much easier using the Hieroglyphic Translator on my Symbaloo Webmix. It can be printed but since we have 1:1 iPads, students take a screen shot of their generated names and use it to make their drawings.
I live in Nebraska and love teaching art! I get the best of all worlds.... I teach High School Graphic Design, Middle School Studio Art and I am an adjunct instructor at our local college.
