Students used their iPads and the sketching app called Tayasui Sketches to draw one of four Nebraska Winter Birds.Their choices were the Black-capped Chickadee, Northern Cardinal, Red-bellied Woodpecker, and the Dark-Eyed Junco. What Bird is a very informative website that allows the students to research about their particular bird with visuals, audio, etc. This app has a great online tutorial. The variety of brushes and tools helps students create details as well as the watercolor looking backgrounds.
6th grade art students had fun using the iPad app BitDraw to design their snowmen. This app allows students to draw pixel by pixel as if they had a graph paper in front of them. Students learned that digital images are made up of pixels which are colors applied to rows and columns.
